Climate Emergency Conservation Area Toolkit

Our practice works in conservation areas and felt the need for updated and consistent technical and planning guidance to enable Climate Emergency Retrofitting.  â€‹

Poorly insulated homes in the UK comprise 20% of total UK carbon emissions. One quarter of these homes, 7 million, are heritage or architecturally significant which therefore represent 5% of total UK carbon emissions.

Through ACAN, Architects Climate Action Network, Chris has authored this extensive 168 page guide which provides planners and local authorities with a toolkit to change local guidance enabling both heritage repair and retrofit to the highest modern standards where possible. A worked Conservation Area example shows what may be achieved for windows, roofs, & walls.
